Has Rio Ferdinand played his last game for Manchester United at Old Trafford? The 35-year-old defender could well have, given that he has reportedly been left out of the squad to face Hull on Tuesday night.
An Old Trafford exit would bring the curtain down on a 12 year career with the Red Devils that has seen Ferdinand enjoy a hugely successful stint with the club – the highlight undoubtedly coming in the 2008 Champions League success over Chelsea. Ferdinand also has six Premier League titles to his name as well as two League Cup winners’ medals, although he has never won the FA Cup.
He has been included in the PFA’s Team of the Year award on six occasions and even made the Fifa World XI in 2007-08, with the successful European campaign strengthening his reputation as one of the leading centre-backs in world football.
However, he has fallen down the pecking order since Sir Alex Ferguson retired, with David Moyes showing a reluctance to select him during his 10-month spell in charge, although Giggs has reinstated Ferdinand in his starting line-up having started both matches against Norwich and Sunderland.
But Ferdinand isn’t the only one who could leave United at the end of next month. Click the gallery below to see who else could be on their way out of Old Trafford.
