Will Sir Alex Ferguson have reminded his Manchester United players of last season’s 6-1 defeat to Manchester City?

The Scot refused to discuss it at his weekly press conference but Gary Neville does not believe he will have done so. “I don’t think the previous year’s results matter,” Neville said.

“Revenge and words like that are just not something that are mentioned in many football dressing rooms, let alone United’s. I think what does happen is they will reflect on football experiences of matches against Manchester City that they have had. You don’t really think about the results because the results change every single time.”
