Manchester United vs Burnley: Jose Mourinho sent to the stands for over the top half-time protest

Jose Mourinho was sent to the stands midway through Manchester United’s game with Burnley at Old Trafford.

The sides trudged off with the game level at 0-0 but Mourinho did not appear in the dugout with the rest of his technical team for the second half.

Instead, the Portuguese took a seat in the stands in the directors’ box.

He seemed to have been sent away from the touchline by referee Mark Clattenburg following a half-time protest which was adjudged to have overstepped the mark.

Mourinho tried to sit in the first row of the crowd along with the fans before moving 10 rows back after deciding he couldn’t see the game well enough.

He eventually settled on a place in the VIP section along with the directors as he moved three seats in nearly six minutes.

It means more disciplinary action will likely follow after he was charged with misconduct earlier this week for his comments about referee Anthony Taylor ahead of the derby with Liverpool.
