Mark Schwarzer set to quit Fulham following arrival of Maarten Stekelenburg
The Australian is on the look out for a new club
Mark Schwarzer has announced that he is on the look out for a new club following Fulham's capture of Maarten Stekelenburg from Roma.
The Cottagers announced they had signed the Netherlands international yesterday, finally capturing the long-time target.
Immediately it led to speculation that Schwarzer, who is out of contract, would leave the club rather than play understudy next term. The Australian international has now confirmed that is the case.
"I've been hearing that (Fulham's pursuit of Stekelenburg) for a while, so it's no great surprise and I'll be looking for another club," said the 40-year-old.
The former Middlesbrough keeper was linked with a move to Arsenal a couple of years ago and at this stage it is unclear where he will go.
Discussing his future, Schwarzer said: "Nothing has been sorted at the moment the Japan game was the most important thing on the agenda so I'm worried about the Australia games now."
