Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Mousa Dembele is facing a 10-game ban for his supposed eye-gouge on Chelsea striker Diego Costa, according to reports.

The Belgian midfielder appeared to poke at the eye of Costa during the ill-tempered 2-2 draw between the London rivals on Monday night, a draw that handed Leicester City the Premier League title.

According to The Sun, the Football Association view the incident with the same severity as then-Liverpool striker Luis Suarez's bite on Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic in 2013 - an incident that ended in the Uruguayan being banned for 10 games.

The incident during the first-half on Monday night went unseen by referee Mark Clattenburg and his assistants and was one of manty unsavoury incidents between the two sides, that ended with a scuffle just by the tunnel at full-time.

The FA have so far been silent on the incedent but are expected to throw the book at both clubs for failing to control their players.

They have requested footage ffrom the BBC and Sky Sports, as well as CCTV footage from Stamford Bridge.

Tottenham had nine players booked and Chelsea further three, a record amount of yellow cards in the Premier League era.
