Chelsea have handed midfielder Nemanja Matic a new contract, just 14 months after he rejoined the club from Benfica for £25m, report the Evening Standard.

Matic has been rewarded for his superb form for the club with a £30,000-a-week pay-rise to over £90,000-a-week.

The 26-year-old is set to officially sign the extension to his current deal, which will now take him up to 2020, in the next few days.

Matic has missed the last two games through suspension following his clash with Burnley's Ashley Barnes and also suffered a minor ankle injury while celebrating his team-mates Capital One Cup victory over Tottenham on Sunday.

But he will be fully fit for the second leg of their last 16 Champions League tie against Paris Saint Germain next week.

Chelsea have been securing their key personnel on long-term contracts throughout the campaign.

Matic will join Eden Hazard, Oscar, Cesar Azpilicueta and Thibaut Courtois in committing his long-term future. Captain John Terry will also sign on for another year before the end of the season.
