Claudio Ranieri sacked by Fulham

Claudio Ranieri has been sacked as Fulham manager after just four months in charge at Craven Cottage.

Fulham are currently languishing in 19th position, owing to seven defeats in their last eight Premier League games, culminating in a 2-0 loss at Southampton on Wednesday which left them 10 points adrift of safety.

In total, Ranieri won just three games at the helm, and will now be replaced by Scott Parker as caretaker manager.

“Following our discussion this afternoon, Claudio Ranieri agreed to my decision that a change was in the best interest of everyone,” club chairman Shahid Khan said in a statement on the Fulham website.

David Moyes is currently the frontrunner to take over on a permanent basis, with former Huddersfield boss David Wagner also a leading candidate.
