Pep Guardiola is waiting to see what happens at Manchester United before making any decision about Manchester City, according to reports.
The Bayern Munich manager is out of contract at the end of next season and is the top choice to replace Manuel Pellegrini, who City will stand by for one more year despite a poor campaign.
But the Manchester Evening News report that the Spaniard is waiting to see how Louis van Gaal gets on next season, with Guardiola tempted by the chance to manage at Old Trafford.
Van Gaal only signed a three-year deal at the club and has already stated that it will be his last job in management.
At 65 and entering the final year of his deal in 2016, United will be in the difficult position of deciding whether to keep the Dutchman at a time when the world's most sought-after coach comes on the market.
With the City hierarchy determined to bring Guardiola to the Etihad, Ed Woodward, United's vice-chairman, will have a tough decision to make on whether to allow the club's near neighbours a free run at him.
