Manchester United fans may have endured a tortuous season as they prepare to wave goodbye to their Premier League trophy, but they were able to enjoy one last laugh before the season ended.

Having lost to rivals Liverpool earlier in the season, United fans shelled out for a banner to be flown over Anfield reading “United 20 Gerrard 0”, making light of the fact that the Liverpool captain looks set to fall short in his quest to land a maiden Premier League trophy.

It is not the first time the banner idea has been utilised by some United fans, as the coughed up over £800 earlier in the season to parade “Wrong One – Moyes out” above Old Trafford at the start of the 4-1 victory over Aston Villa. Less than a month later, Moyes was sacked.

The Red Devils could’ve been tempting fate given that Gerrard could still inspire his side to the title, although he would need Manchester City to lose against West Ham and hope the Reds can beat Newcastle in what would be one of the most dramatic finale’s to an exhilarating Premier League season.
