Real Madrid transfer ban: Arsenal's Arsene Wenger rubbishes Fifa's ruling and says 'it will be overturned'

Real have been banned for the next two windows but Wenger says Spaniards will have successful appeal

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has ridiculed Fifa's Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid transfer ban scheduled for the next two transfer windows, saying that the suspension will be overturned.

The Gunners talisman Alexis Sanchez has been linked with the Spanish giants in recent seasons, and Wenger says that the La Liga sides will appeal their ban and be allowed to buy players in the ext two windows.

"They will appeal, it will be overturned and they will be allowed to buy in next two windows," Wenger said during his press briefing today.

Real and city rivals Atletico have been banned from registering new signings for the next two transfer windows after being found to have breached rules on the international transfer and registration of players aged under 18.

The sanction does not affect the current registration period and does not prevent players leaving either club, but currently means that, after this month's transfer window closes, neither Real nor Atletico will be able to register any new players until the summer of 2017.

Sanchez could make his return to the Arsenal squad for Sunday's trip to Stoke.

The Chile forward has been sidlelined since a draw at Norwich in November because of a hamstring injury.

"The other question mark is about Alexis," he added.

"He has two decisive days - today and tomorrow. he is fit, has worked very hard and the decision we have to take is whether to take a gamble or not on his injury."
