After being thrust into the limelight by John Terry, probably the last thing Robbie Savage would have wanted was to be featuring live on TV.

However his work commitments meant that just hours after being ridiculed by the Chelsea captain, he was co-commentating on Manchester City's goal-fest with Sevilla.

Prior to the Champions League game kicking-off in Spain, Savage took a moment to address Terry's comments...

"Thx for the name check John good to know your watching I look forward to analysing tomorrow's performance Saturday morning," he wrote.

He was responding to Terry, who earlier in the day said he only listened if he was "dug out" by "the very best", a group the Chelsea captain doesn't believe Savage qualifies for.

Terry said: "I have come under criticism from players I have looked up to and take it on the chin - Rio Ferdinand, Gary Neville and Jamie Carragher.

"When certain other people speak, maybe I don't listen. Players who have played at a really bad level, who haven't had a career - Robbie Savage being one.

"He has dug me out a couple of times. I take it from the very best, other people - no."

Terry wasn't the only one taking aim at Savage on Tuesday, with his commentary on BT Sport slated on Twitter...

Regarding Terry's comments, Savage promised on Twitter: "I will respond don't worry. 1st thoughts are on tonight's champions league Sevilla v city."
