Liverpool fans may have to wait a little longer than expected to get a first look at £29m signing Roberto Firmino playing in the famous jersey.

His involvement in the ongoing Copa America tournament seems likely to see him link up with his new squad after the club's tour of the Far East and Australia.

The Brazil striker will be in action this Saturday against Paraguay in the quarter-finals of the tournament and should they go all the way, he'd still be on international duty until the final on Saturday, July 4.

Liverpool are due to head to Bangkok to begin their pre-season tour on July 12 before their first game against the Thai All Stars on July 14.

Due to the need for a break, having gone on international duty following the conclusion of Hoffenheim's season, Firmino will not be able to link up with the squad before then.

Liverpool travel to Australia after Thailand where they play Brisbane Roar on July 17 and Adelaide on July 20. The final match of the tour will be against a Malaysia XI on July 24 in Kuala Lumpur.

Coutinho is in the same boat as Firmino and will also miss the tour.

However, it's thought that if Brazil are knocked out this weekend the pair could link up with the squad for the second half of the tour.

Liverpool will play one final pre-season friendly against HJK Helsinki in Finland on August 1 ahead of the start of the season. The Reds begin the campaign away against Stoke City on August 8.
