The Arsenal defender Bacary Sagna has asked Premier League referees to provide players with more protection following a spate of poor tackling.

"We've had two broken legs," the Frenchman said of injuries to Aaron Ramsey and former team-mate Eduardo.

"[Samir Nasri] almost had his leg cut off. If he breaks his leg, what shall we say? It's too late. The problem is you can't have a discussion with them [referees], you can't have a debate."
