Luke Shaw will make his first start in six weeks as Manchester United look to begin 2015 with victory at Stoke.

Shaw, who suffered an ankle injury against Arsenal in November, replaces Antonio Valencia, while Chris Smalling came in for Paddy McNair, but there was no place in the squad for the injured Angel Di Maria.

Stoke brought Jon Walters in for Bojan Krkic, who missed out because of a hamstring injury.

Stoke: Begovic; Cameron, Shawcross, Muniesa, Pieters; Walters, Nzonzi, Whelan, Arnautovic; Diouf, Crouch.
