Sunderland manager Gus Poyet has been charged with improper conduct (Reuters)

Sunderland manager Gus Poyet has been charged with improper conduct by the Football Association after his outburst during the Premier League game against Hull City on Tuesday. The Uruguayan has until Monday to respond to the charge.

The FA has also contacted Hull manager Steve Bruce in relation to the same incident and formally reminded him of his responsibilities.

Poyet was sent to the stands by referee Mike Dean for reacting badly when his midfielder Jack Rodwell was booked for diving.

Poyet kicked over a water bottle carrier in the dugout and then confronted Bruce, who had to be restrained by an assistant referee and his own coaching staff in the 35th minute of the match, which finished 1-1, at the KC Stadium.

Meanwhile Leeds United president Massimo Cellino has had his disqualification from the club extended to the end of the season.

In January, the Football League disqualified him from running the Championship club until 10 April after obtaining documents from an Italian court which had found him guilty of tax evasion.
