Jose Mourinho has spoken with playmaker Christian Eriksen about his Tottenham Hotspur future, but is keeping the details of their chat under wraps for now.

The Danish schemer was left on the bench for Mourinho’s first match in charge, a 3-2 win over West Ham at the weekend, coming on as a late sub.

With his contract up at the end of the season and a reported move to Real Madrid having fallen through last summer, speculation has been rife that Eriksen wants out of Spurs.

After coming into the club last week, the new manager admitted he wasn’t sure about the long-term intentions of Eriksen – but now says they have discussed the matter and that Eriksen is “committed” to Tottenham.

Even so, he stopped short of confirming any kind of renewal was on the cards, noting that the truth would come out sooner or later due to an impending documentary.

“I’m not going to tell you what we said. Just me and him – and Amazon,” Mourinho said in his press conference.

“He’s committed, loves the club and is one of us.”

Amazon are recording their All or Nothing series at the north London club this season, which will now capture the opening months of Mourinho’s life at Spurs.

As for Eriksen, he faces a battle for game time due to Dele Alli’s return to form.

Tottenham are 10th in the Premier League table and can secure their place in the Champions League last 16 on Tuesday, when they face Olympiacos at home.
