Tottenham Hotspur: A look back at 2018

Tottenham have no fresh injury concerns for their Premier League trip to Everton on Sunday.

Harry Kane will come back into the side after he started Wednesday's EFL Cup semi-final victory over north London rivals Arsenal on the bench.

Hugo Lloris is also set to be restored to the Spurs starting line-up, despite Paulo Gazzaniga’s impressive performance at the Emirates Stadium.

Davinson Sanchez trained with the rest of the first-team squad on Thursday as he nears a return from a hamstring injury, and could be in line to feature.

Jan Vertonghen (thigh), Eric Dier (appendicitis), Mousa Dembele (ankle), Serge Aurier (groin) and Victor Wanyama (knee) miss out.

Tottenham lie third in the Premier League table after 17 matches, two points ahead of London rivals Chelsea, while Everton are 15 points behind them in eighth.

Liverpool and Manchester City have separated themselves from the rest of the Premier League, with Spurs currently five points behind the defending champions, and Pochettino admits it is reasonable to think of his team as fringe contenders.

“They are the two big candidates to win the league,” he said of Liverpool and City. “We are behind with some gap. Then there are Chelsea, Arsenal, and [Manchester] United.

“Of course there is still a long way until the end of the season. It is normal for people to consider Liverpool and Man City the two big candidates to win the Premier League.”

Provisional squad: Lloris, Gazzaniga, Sanchez, Rose, Foyth, Trippier, Alderweireld, Walker-Peters, Moura, Skipp, Son, Alli, Kane, Eriksen, Winks, Davies, Sissoko, Llorente, Vorm.
