Tottenham vs Southampton live: Harry Kane breaks Alan Shearer's Premier League goal record as Spurs thrash Saints
Follow the latest from the Premier League clash at Wembley Stadium
Tottenham have the chance to move back into the top four when they take on Southampton at Wembley Stadium in the Boxing Day early kick-off as the first of eight Premier League games.
Spurs striker Harry Kane seized his final chance to break Alan Shearer’s record of 36 Premier League goals in a calendar year, with the mark having stood for 22 years since Shearer helped fire Blackburn Rovers to the title until Kane headed in the opening goal of the match.
Spurs do have injury concerns on their hands though, with Eric Dier a doubt after suffering a calf strain and manager Mauricio Pochettino ready to rotate his side in order to avoid fatigue over the festive period. Southampton meanwhile are without the suspended Charlie Austin, who has been banned for three matches due to violent conduct, while defenders Cedric Soares and Ryan Bertand are doubtful.

...and it's time for kick-off. Will it be the Tottenham or Southampton fans full of Christmas cheer this afternoon?
KICK-OFF: Here we go! Southampton, in their change strip of black and blue stripes, get the first Premier League game of Boxing Day underway at English football's biggest waste of money the Home of Football.
3 mins: There are nerves and signs of hesitancy in the home ranks in the opening minutes as Southampton start on the front foot. A needless free-kick conceded by Davinson Sanchez is unconvincingly dealt with by Hugo Lloris before Danny Rose, sporting a bandaged forehead after an unidentified 'clash' in training, runs the ball out for a throw-in.
5 mins: But here come Tottenham. First, Christian Eriksen's deflected shot wins them the game's first corner, before Son Heung-min's low cross is pushed out by Fraser Forster. The goalkeeper's clearance falls to the feet of Serge Aurier, but the French full-back's follow-up is blocked by a defender.
7 mins: The home side are really pressing now. Harry Kane has Wembley Stadium on their feet as he meet's Eriksen's cross at the near post, but his shot only succeeds in rustling the side-netting. Seconds later, Eric Dier tests Forster with a long shot before a frantic spell is brought to an end with Eriksen being flagged offside. The offside Dane eventually forces the ball into the net via Wesley Hoedt.
The two Mauricio Ps share a moment under the mistletoe prior to kick-off.
16 mins: Dele Alli spent the Saturday night before Christmas making friends in Burnley, and he may have just drawn attention to himself once again. The England man appeared to catch Saints defender Matt Targett with a flailing arm on the touchline, but - despite the suggestion of several Sky Sports' replays - there seemed little in terms of intent.
21 mins: Danny Rose goes down inside the penalty area, and Graham Scott awards...a free-kick outside the box. It's the correct call from the official after the Tottenham defender fell into the area after being tripped by Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg. The infringement is enough to bring the Danish midfielder the first caution of the game too.
