Victor Valdes has not been brought in from the cold by Louis van Gaal despite being named in Manchester United's Premier League squad.

The former Barcelona goalkeeper, who joined the club in January, has been left on the fringes of the squad by the coach after he was accused of refusing to play for the Under-21s - something Valdes refutes.

The 33-year-old was reported to be looking for a move away from the club after the row escalated, but was unable to find one when before the window shut on 1 September.

Valdes has not been named in the Champions League squad and was only named in the Premier League squad to conform to rules, according to the Manchester Evening News.

United cannot leave a player of their 25-man list if they do not have a full quota - Van Gaal is only been able to muster 21 names for the squad, including Valdes.
