Why Manchester United defender Matteo Darmian isn't like almost every other footballer
Manchester United signed the right-back from Torino
The requirements of a modern footballer - pace, a good touch and... tattoos.
It seems that just about every footballer currently playing the game is covered in ink. Early adopters of the trend included David Beckham, who has the names of all of his children printed on his body, along with various other bits of art work.
The 'sleeve' is among the most popular looks, with entire arms covered with tattoos.
However, Manchester United signing Matteo Darmian isn't a fan of the trend. In fact, the Italian is said to abhor the act of intentionally marking oneself.
Darmian joined Manchester United in a £12.7m deal from Torino as a direct replacement for the unwanted Rafael, and it’s expected he’ll slot straight into the first team to free up Antonio Valencia, who was forced into a makeshift right-back in Rafael’s absence for much of last season.
