Now Wolves come forward. The ball is played into Jota, who lays it off to marauding left back Jonny. His ball across just evades the onrushing Jimenez.

At the other end, Rondon gets a left-footed snapshot off, but it's straight at Rui Patricio.

Neves collects the ball in the middle and picks out Dendoncker. He goes for goal from a long way out, but his effort is blocked. Wolves continue to probe through Jota on the left. His attempted cross, though, goes behind for a goal kick.

Boly does well to release Jota down the left, and the Portuguese runs at Newcastle's back four. He's crowded out and dispossessed, but Jota has made a lively start to this game.

Neither side has created a clear chance as yet, although Newcastle have been more adventurous than might have been expected. There have been signs, though, that Jimenez and Jota could cause problems as the game develops.

Not much is happening. Newcastle, off the ball, are typically compact, which might be an issue for Wolves, who have struggled to break down more defensive sides at home this season.

The game hasn't really got going yet.

Suddenly, it comes to life. Wolves break forward and Jimenez bursts into the box. Atsu is there, though, and makes a strong challenge. There are loud appeals for a penalty, but the referee waves them away.

The hosts have really upped the tempo. Doherty puts in a dangerous ball, which is met by Jimenez. It's a great chance for a striker in such fine form, but his shot rises over the bar.

The ball breaks kindly for Jota, who gets in behind the Newcastle defence. He evades a challenge and swings a cross towards the far post, but it evades everyone and the visitors clear.

Newcastle, in a rare forage forward, are left exposed at the back and Wolves break quickly. Dendoncker lofts a ball into the path of Jimenez, who controls with his chest but can't get the ball out of his feet. He gives it back to Dendoncker, whose shot flies over the bar.

Wolves 0-0 Newcastle

Wolves are fluid in attack, moving intelligently and finding space in dangerous positions. They've been in complete control since the early stages of this one, but are yet to find a breakthrough. It's been a typically stubborn display so far from Newcastle, although Benitez will surely want to see more of his side in an attacking sense.
