Keane double eases the pressure on Mowbray

Tony Mowbray , the Celtic manager, believes the need to keep some of the Scottish media at bay was in danger of getting to his side before their 2-0 win at Falkirk yesterday. Two Robbie Keane goals took the Celtic back to within 10 points of Scottish Premier League leaders Rangers, who also have a game in hand.

Robert Olejnik had twice foiled the on-loan Irish striker before Keane drilled the ball past the Falkirk goalkeeper in the 34th minute after being set up by Morten Rasmussen. He then wrapped up the win with 11 minutes to go, capitalising on Marc Crosas' quick free-kick to confidently score.

Most Hoops' fans have given up on the title race but Mowbray is adamant that there are not any less expectations on his players. "If anything, there was more pressure on the team to get a result because, again, not all of you, but the way some of the Scottish media work, they like piling it on," he said. "So we have to keep going and keep winning matches – that's what we do."

At Tannadice, Morgaro Gomis scored the only goal of the game as wasteful Dundee United finally pierced injury-ravaged Hearts to regain third place in the table. United missed numerous opportunities before Gomis's shot deflected in off Lee Wallace 13 minutes from time.
