The Wembley curse continues for Tottenham who are yet to win at their temporary home this season and face a tricky task in ending that hoo-doo against Borussia Dortmund on Wednesday evening.

The German giants currently sit top of the Bundesliga after three games and arrive in North London for the opening Champions League Group H game having not conceded a league goal yet this season.

Spurs, by contrast, haven't won at Wembley - their temporary home for a year while White Hart Lane is being redeveloped - so far this season, continuing their worrying trend from last campaign where they struggled at the Home of Football in the Champions League and Europa League.

Indeed they faced Dortmund in the latter competition only a year ago, going down 6-1 on aggregate to the Germans although Mauricio Pochettino did rest plenty of stars as he tried unsuccessfully to chase down Premier League runaway leaders Leicester at the time.

It will be different this time around as only Dele Alli (suspended) and Victor Wanyama (injured) are missing from the familiar faces.

Dortmund have more pressing injury concerns with seven regulars are either doubtful or confirmed out, including the likes of Marco Reus, Marc Bartra and Marcel Schmelzer.

Match preview:

What time does it start?

The game kicks off at 7.45pm (BST) on Wednesday 13 September at Wembley Stadium.

Where can I watch it?

BT Sport 3 will be broadcasting the game but if you can't find a TV we will be live blogging it right here.

It's a big game for...

Mario Gotze. The forgotten man of European football is back at his spiritual home having left for the bright lights of Bayern only to struggle to recapture some of his glory days at the Westfalenstadion. He returned to Dortmund at the start of last season following a disappointing three year spell in Munich but managed only 11 games after being diagnosed with "metabolic disturbances". He didn't play after January but has returned this season and is already looking leaner and meaner, setting up goals already and at 25 still has his best days ahead of him.

Player to watch...

Harry Kane. The August curse seemed like a myth but it does actually genuinely seem to be a thing as the Spurs man, so used to banging them in, failed again to score any league goals in August for the fourth season running. As soon as September ticked around he scored twice at Everton to finally get off the mark, and notch his 100th Tottenham goal in the process. Spurs will need him at his very best to break down a so-far solid German defence if they are to get anything from this game.

Odds...

Tottenham win: 11/8

Draw: 45/17

Dortmund win: 28/13

3 mins: GOAL! Tottenham 1 Borussia Dortmund 0 (Son)

Dortmund very nearly slipped Kagawa in down the right but Sanchez intercepted and set away Son, who expertly filled the space vacated down that flank by Piszczek. The dribbled all the way into the box and thumped it past Burki from close range. Great start.

8 mins: After that stunning start from Spurs, Dortmund are looking to hit back and Aubameyang almost did but yet more great defending, this time from Vertonghen, blocks the cross.

10 mins: GOAL! Tottenham 1 Borussia Dortmund 1 (Yarmolenko)

I said they were pushing and what a way to equalise! Yarmolenko links with Kagawa on the right, with the former Manchester United man pulling the ball back for the summer signing. One sweep of his left foot and the ball was nestled into the top corner of Lloris' goal.

15 mins: GOAL! Tottenham 2 Borussia Dortmund 1 (Kane)

What is in the water at Wembley this evening?! What strength from Kane as he shrugged off two players from close to the half way line. He just runs and runs and scores at the near post - almost identically to Son's opener. Burki might want to watch his near post from now on...

18 mins: For all the attacking guile on show here, the defences have been left wanting down the flanks. Aurier, making his debut, lunged into a challenge there and missed, leaving acres of space free. Fortunately for Spurs only a corner came of it.

Jack Austin13 September 2017 20:04

Pochettino challenged his side not to fold like they did against Monaco here last season and they have certainly taken up that challenge here. Their response to being pegged back has been phenomenal.

Jack Austin13 September 2017 20:11

27 mins: Some top defending from Ben Davies there! A dreadful ball to defend and the Welshman is at the back post to hook the ball over his own bar. He's had a fantastic start to the season.

Jack Austin13 September 2017 20:13

30 mins: Yet more stunning defending! Pulisic gets the better of Alderweireld and spins away from him. He puts in a low cross towards Aubameyang but Vertonghen toes it clear.

Jack Austin13 September 2017 20:16

33 mins: Pulisic is some talent. He is playing some delightfully intricate football and again nearly slides in Aubameyang.

Jack Austin13 September 2017 20:20

35 mins: Theres the game's first yellow card. Dier slides in and wins the ball perfectly... the only player he seems to harm is own in Ben Davies. Odd decision.
