Paris St Germain are free to pursue Manchester United winger Angel Di Maria this summer after having their Uefa Financial Fair Play restrictions lifted.

The Ligue 1 champions had been limited to a £42.5m budget this summer but are now free to spend more freely.

The French club received the news yesterday after pleading with Uefa that they should not face further punishment considering the relaxing of Financial Fair Play rules.

It means that they can now go after their chief summer targets, with Manchester United winger Di Maria understood to be among them.

The Argentina international was wanted by the French club last summer but ultimately the player made a £59.7m move to Old Trafford instead.

He endured a difficult year at Old Trafford and whilst both the player and club have denied there will be a parting of the ways, there continues to be speculation that he could leave for PSG. The presence of Argentina team-mate and close friend Javier Pastore would make the move attractive to Di Maria who will be competing in the Copa America final this weekend.
