The prospect of Morgan Schneiderlin joining Arsenal is now odds-on with one bookmaker after a flurry of bets on the Southampton midfielder moving to the Emirates.

The France international has long been linked with joining the Gunners. Last summer he expressed a desire to move but the transfer was blocked by Southampton amid a number of other exits from St Mary's.

The 25-year-old has admitted he wants to play for a Champions League club and he's been widely tipped to move on. Manchester United and Tottenham have at various stages been favourites to land the accurate passer, but Arsenal now appears his most likely destination.

Football Trader for Betfair, Michael Bowers commented: “Arsenal are now odds-on favourite to sign the in-demand Frenchman before September 2nd 2015. Schneiderlin has been a wanted man for several transfer windows now and it seems as though Wenger is trying to force a deal through early to fend off other suitors. After a huge rush of bets today, Arsenal have been cut from 5/1 to 1/2, the shortest odds any other club has been backed in to by far.”

Reports today suggest the player has struck an agreement with his current club that he can leave this summer. Any exit would net the south coast club around £25m.
