Goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny has revealed that he wants to end his Arsenal career in order to stay with Roma, and has revealed that the two clubs are already in talks to structure a permanent deal in the summer.

Szczesny is currently on loan at Roma for the duration of the 2015/16 season, having enjoyed a first team role with the Italian side that he would not have been afforded under current Arsenal No 1 Petr Cech.

The 26-year-old Poland international spoke earlier in the season to suggest that while he is enjoying his time in the Italian capital, he could yet return to Arsenal and resurrect his career at the Emirates, but that possibility now looks to be over.

Speaking to Il Messaggero, Szczesny said: "I want to stay. It's not all up to me, obviously. I want it to happen, and I know Roma and Arsenal are talking about it, so we'll see what happens.”

Szczesny has in 31 of Roma’s 35 Serie A games this season, including the 1-0 victory over Napoli on Monday afternoon that ended the title race and saw Juventus celebrate a fifth consecutive Scudetto success.

The result puts Roma within two points of second place Napoli, and Szczesny has already set his sights on ending Juventus’s domination of the Italian top flight, should he remain in the Eternal City.

"I'm happy to have helped the team and winning the title must be the next objective for this club,” Szczesny added.

Roma need one more victory from their remaining three matches to confirm their place in next season’s Champions League play-offs, but will need to overhaul second-placed Napoli if they are to enter the competition in the group stage.
