Nigerian "wonderkid" Kelechi Nwakali is expected to finally arrive at Arsenal this week, as confirmed by allnigeriasoccer.com.

The Nigeria U20 international has already agreed a deal in principle with the club but his official unveiling has been delayed due to his participation in the U20 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

Arsenal fought off interest from the likes of Bayern Munich and Barcelona to sign the player who earlier in the summer tweeted, “New life begins at Arsenal.”

Elsewhere, Arsenal remain interested in signing Alexandre Lacazette, according to Italian journalist Emanuele Giulianelli, but will only make a move for him if a deal for an “unnamed striker” falls through.

Arsenal have prioritised the signing of a new striker this summer but so far they’ve struggled to land any of their targets, including Gonzalo Higuain and Jamie Vardy.

“Arsenal are working on a secret name, not yet revealed, and the recent trip to Germany of some club members could mean something,” the journalist said. “Or maybe it was for [Julian] Draxler? No-one knows yet.

“What we know is when and if Arsenal realise that they won’t be able to take their first choice, they will take Lacazette.”

Giulianelli also suggested that the Gunners have lined up a winger to bolster their front line who, together with the “secret” striker, would cost Arsenal “about £100m”. However, if this deal fails to materialise, then the Gunners will move for Lacazette in what would be a £40m deal.

Beyond the usual forward rumours, Arsenal have been dealt another blow after target Corentin Tolisso opted to join Napoli from Lyon.

The 21-year-old midfielder agreed personal terms with the Serie A side over the weekend ahead of a £25m deal.

Lastly, Leicester City have reportedly made a £5.25m bid for 19-year-old Polish winger Bartosz Kapustka.

While there may not be too much to it, could the Foxes be lining up a replacement to Mahrez in anticipation of a potential departure to the Emirates?
