Manchester United are ready to make an offer for Juventus midfielder Arturo Vidal, according to reports.

United have already brought in Ander Herrera to bolster their midfield, but it is understood that Chilean star Vidal is new manager Louis van Gaal's main transfer priority.

The Manchester club have yet to make contact with Juventus, but are understood to have made enquiries into whether the Chilean would be interested in a move to Old Trafford.

It is thought that signals from Vidal's camp indicate he would be open to a move, which has encouraged United to press on with their interest.

Juventus are understood to value Vidal at around £40m, but United are said to be pursuing an offer of around £30m involving misfit winger Nani going in the other direction.

Vidal has been on United's radar for some time, with David Moyes reportedly rebuffed this January when he attempted to sign the midfielder.

However now the Chilean is thought to be more open to a move and Juventus could decide to cash in on their star.

United have already spent close to £60m this summer and will look to continue in that vein as Van Gaal attempts to rebuild their squad in his own image.
