Arturo Vidal transfer news: Manchester United to try and beat Real Madrid and Arsenal to land Juventus player with mammoth £250,000 wages - reports

Chile midfielder could leave Juventus this summer with a number of clubs keen on his services

Manchester United are still interested in Juventus midfielder Arturo Vidal and could be willing to offer him as much as £250,000-a-week in wages, according to reports.

The Chilean midfielder saw both his and his country’s World Cup campaign come to a disappointing end after they lost on penalties to host’s Brazil on Saturday, and matters will now turn to the future of Vidal after a year of speculation linking him with moves to both United and Real Madrid.

Having wrapped up the signings of Ander Herrera and Luks Shaw this week, United are keen to press on with their recruitment drive ahead of the arrival of new manager Louis van Gaal, and Vidal is said to be his top target as the United squad continues to be rebuilt following the dismal campaign last season.

However, one hindrance over a move to Old Trafford is Vidal’s previous admission that he would not be willing to move to a club that is not competing in the Champions League. Any move to Old Trafford would require the 27-year-old to take a year away from European football, although United are hopeful that the enormous financial offer would be enough to tempt the midfielder to follow Herrera and Shaw to Manchester.

Arsenal have also been linked with a move to Vidal after Arsene Wenger confirmed his interest in the Juventus star.

The Gunners’ manager did concede that other transfer business would take his attentions, but if a deal for Vidal becomes available then he would be keen to follow it up.
