John Terry will play his last game for Chelsea this season as the club have reportedly told him that they will not be offering him a new playing contract.

According to The Times, Chelsea are keen for the club captain to stay on in a non-playing role and are to begin searching for a position at Stamford Bridge which he can fulfil.

The club hope to prevent speculation over Terry’s future from dragging out, as it did last season, and his prospective role could feature a combination of coaching and ambassadorial responsibilities.

Elsewhere, Roma are reportedly prepared to allow Radja Nainggolan and Antonio Rudiger to move to Stamford Bridge, provided they can take Cesc Fabregas in return.

The Spaniard has been linked with a move away from west London ever since Antonio Conte’s arrival and has also been linked with Milan, Roma’s Serie A rivals.

Nainggolan, meanwhile, was dissuaded from moving to Chelsea during the summer after talks with Walter Sabatini, the Roma sporting director.

However, according to the Daily Mirror, both Nainggolan and Rudiger could be included in a deal for the out-of-favour Fabregas, who has only made two Premier League starts this season.

Staying in Italy, Marcelo Brozovic’s name continues to be mentioned in connection with Chelsea.

The Internazionale winger only signed new terms with the club earlier this month and has found form since Stefano Pioli’s arrival in the Giuseppe Meazza dugout.

However, according to Gazzetta dello Sport, given the club’s concerns about Financial Fair Play, the sale of Brozovic may go through in January regardless.
