Darren Fletcher to West Brom: Midfielder leaves Manchester United to sign up at the Hawthorns
The 31-year-old's contract was set to expire at the end of the season
Darren Fletcher has signed for West Bromwich Albion on a free transfer from Manchester United.
The midfielder drove down from Old Trafford through the snow today after earlier reports that he was expected to stay at United until the end of the season, despite the club offering him a free transfer to find first-team football elsewhere.
A proposed deal with West Ham fell through, with Fletcher’s wages reportedly the main issue.
But West Brom have now swooped for the 31-year-old, who trained as normal with United today.
