Real Madrid hope to bring an end to Eden Hazard’s Chelsea nightmare with an astonishing £100m bid this summer, according to reports in the Daily Star.

Last season’s PFA Players’ Player of the Year and Football Writers' Footballer of the Year has endured a miserable fourth season as Stamford Bridge, failing to score in 27 appearances as the reigning champions find themselves as low as 14th in the Premier League table.

With many Chelsea supporters viewing the lacklustre performances of the 24-year-old as one of the key reasons behind the decision to sack popular manager Jose Mourinho last month, Hazard's future at the club has been cast into doubt.

Madrid have long been admirers of Hazard, and now the appointment of Zinedine Zidane as their new manager this week has further fuelled rumours that the Spanish club could be willing to make a close season move for the Belgian with a huge transfer bid.

“After Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, Hazard is my favourite player. It is spectacular to see him play,” revealed Zidane in an interview last year.

“Do I see him going to Real Madrid? I love the player, that’s all I will say.”

Hazard joined Chelsea from Lille in a £32m move back in June 2012, and he has gone on to help the West London club win the Premier League, the League Cup and the Europa League.
