Edinson Cavani to Manchester United: Striker ignoring PSG exit rumours after being given 'guarantee' about role, says agent

Uruguayan striker was previously unhappy about playing out wide

The agent of Manchester United target Edinson Cavani says that his client is ignoring talk of an exit from Paris Saint-Germain this summer.

Walter Guglielmone told French newspaper Journal du Dimanche that the Uruguayan, who has been linked with a big-money move to Old Trafford, has been told he is central to PSG's plans next season.

Cavani has been linked with an exit from the Ligue 1 club after reportedly being unhappy at having to play out wide on the left to main man Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

The 28-year-old scored 31 goals in all competitions as PSG again won the title and has 56 in 96 since moving to the club from Napoli in 2013.

His perceived unhappiness saw him being linked to Old Trafford and previously Arsenal, but Guglielmone has dismissed talk of an exit with Ibrahimovic to play a deeper role next season.

"This summer Edi has received interest from top clubs who are chasing a centre forward," he said.

"He is ignoring them though because he was given guarantees about his position at the end of last season.

"We have been led to believe that Ibrahimovic will play further and further away from the box in order to touch the ball more, leaving the striker position for Edi to fill, which was the case several times at the end of 2014-15.

"In such conditions, Edi will be happy at PSG."
