Manchester United are reportedly prepared to make a club-record £75m move for Real Madrid's Gareth Bale this month.

The Daily Mail have reported that United are encouraged by signals from the Welshman that he is ready to return to the Premier League.

The report adds that the prospect of working with United assistant manager Ryan Giggs, one of Bale's boyhood heroes, is instrumental to the transfer.

The 26-year-old moved to Real from Tottenham for a world record £85m in 2013.

Reports have suggested that Giggs is next in line to manage the club once Louis van Gaal leaves. The Dutchman's contract expires at the end of the 2016/17 season, should he last that long.

New Real Madrid manager, Zinedine Zidane, admitted this week that Bale is unhappy at Rafa Benitez’s sacking, but reiterated his stance that the player will not be sold.

Benitez had aimed to build a team around Bale.

“Gareth was disappointed with the sacking of Rafa because he was an important coach for him, but I will treat him the same way Rafa did,” said Zidane.

“He is an important player and a key player for the squad. He's phenomenal and we're going to give him all the care and support he needs.”
