West Ham are interested in signing Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder Havard Nordtveit, manager Slaven Bilic has confirmed.
Nordtveit was a former Arsenal youth prospect who captained the reserve team, but never played a competitive game for the Gunners.
After three separate loan spells, at Salamanca, Lillestrom and FC Nuremberg, the defensive midfielder moved to Monchengladbach on a permanent deal in 2011.
Speaking about the 25 year-old, Hammers manager Bilic said: " Many clubs are interested in Nordtveit and monitoring the situation," he said. "We are also interested in him."

Manchester United vs West Ham ratings Guillermo Varela Once more Varela did little wrong, offering real solidity and smartly dealing with the overlapping Cresswell whilst still pushing forward to contribute to United’s attack. 6

Manchester United vs West Ham ratings Chris Smalling Had Smalling jumped Payet’s free-kick likely would have been blocked. Having spent most of the game trying to win Carroll’s knock-downs it was little surprise he showed little enthusiasm for the battle. 5

Manchester United vs West Ham ratings Daley Blind Gave away Payet’s winning free-kick with the playmaker running towards goal, typical of a poor day when all his set-pieces gave United little to attack with. 5
Getty
Manchester United vs West Ham ratings Marcos Rojo Was too often guilty of letting Emenike drift inside with no challenge and he didn’t improve after the Nigerian’s substitution, nearly giving away a penalty only for the referee to rule Payet’s fall a dive. 5

Manchester United vs West Ham ratings Michael Carrick A Pirlo-esque refusal to move more than 10 yards in any direction saw Carrick do a lot of simple work well without offering much support as his fellow midfielders struggled. 6

Manchester United vs West Ham ratings Jesse Lingard An impressive shift defensively from Lingard who, along with Varela, ensured Payet struggled to influence the game from the left. However that work seriously curtailed his offensive output. 6

Manchester United vs West Ham ratings Ander Herrera Neat and tidy in possession but did little to up the tempo of United’s often ponderous attack, being as guilty as any other player of sideways passes that killed their momentum. 5

Manchester United vs West Ham ratings Marouane Fellaini Evidently not a Manchester United player, at least not in central midfield. Nor as the forward he was deployed as in the second period. Time and time again he was shrugged off the ball or breezed past with ease. 4

Manchester United vs West Ham ratings Anthony Martial Yet again United’s most dangerous attacker as he drifted in from the left, begging the question why he so often finds himself marooned out there, largely unable to influence the game. 6

Manchester United vs West Ham ratings Marcus Rashford A tough day for the youngster, who doesn’t really have the physicality to impose himself on Reid and Ogbonna. Rashford improved in the second half as he drifted away from the centre-backs and went close on the hour. 6

Manchester United vs West Ham ratings Darren Randolph A more than able deputy for Adrian, he scarcely put a foot wrong and was solid under the high ball. 6

Manchester United vs West Ham ratings Michail Antonio Yet another impressive display from Antonio, who showed further adaptability as a right-back. He may not have got a winner this week but his solidity was vital in West Ham’s defence. 6
Manchester United vs West Ham ratings Winston Reid Found himself on a tightrope after 90 seconds when he picked up a yellow, but dealt superbly with the pressure, lasting until the hour when Bilic chose to play it safe. 6

Manchester United vs West Ham ratings Angelo Ogbonna With his partner teetering close to a dismissal Ogbonna raised his game under pressure. Often found himself at the heart of penalty appeals but only because he kept blocking shots. 7

Manchester United vs West Ham ratings Aaron Cresswell Superb throughout, he powered forward whenever the opportunity presented itself but also proved himself to be a supremely disciplined defender. 8

Manchester United vs West Ham ratings Mark Noble Brought composure and solidity to one of West Ham’s biggest games of the season, keeping possession and springing attacks from deep. 6

Manchester United vs West Ham ratings Cheikhou Kouyate A ball-winning machine, he dropped back into defence on the hour but there was no change from Kouyate as he placed himself in the way of everything United could throw at him. 7

Manchester United vs West Ham ratings Manuel Lanzini Struggled to impose himself on the game and didn’t get on the ball often enough in advanced areas even as he put himself about in defence. 5

Manchester United vs West Ham ratings Emmanuel Emenike Had more than his fair share of chances in the first half, planting a header from De Gea straight into the keeper’s arm, without ever testing the keeper. 5

Manchester United vs West Ham ratings Andy Carroll Did everything you’d expect of Andy Carroll, winning header after header but also acting as an impressive link man with Payet and Emenike. 7

Manchester United vs West Ham ratings Dimitri Payet West Ham’s star man had been sloppy in possession, could have been sent off for a dive and was struggling. But then the game’s outstanding talent curled in a simply magnificent free-kick and all was forgiven. 7

Bilic also spoke about making Manuel Lanzini's loan from UAE club Al Jazira permanent, saying that he wants to keep the 23-year-old Argentine at the club "for a long, long time".
"With Manuel Lanzini the situation is clear," he said. "He came on loan and the option [to buy] is there, so we want him in the club for a long, long time."
