England midfielder James Milner has decided to reject the opportunity to join Champions League side Arsenal in favour of a move to Liverpool.
The 29-year-old is available on a free this summer after deciding to leave Manchester City, and has decided to stay in the North rather than move to London, according to the Daily Mirror.
Although nothing can officially be agreed until the end of the season next week, the paper reports that Milner has picked the Reds over the Gunners as he believes there will be more opportunities to play in central midfield at Anfield.
Liverpool will also apparently make him one of their best paid players with an offer of £100,000-a-week.
Milner also does not want to uproot his family, whilst Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers believes he can replace departing club legend Steven Gerrard in the centre of the midfield.
Milner has been unhappy at the Etihad having been played out of position.
