Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal will wait until December before deciding whether to send James Wilson out on loan.

Van Gaal said earlier this month that he planned to send the 19-year-old out on a temporary basis so the player could get some experience, but he remains on United's books.

The teenager was not in the squad for Wednesday's 3-0 win over Ipswich in the Capital One Cup, but there is no loan move pending for the striker, Van Gaal confirmed.

The United boss said he has "doubts" about whether it would be worthwhile loaning the player to a Championship club, and for that reason he will wait for two months before making a decision on the player.

"I have talked with him and I think we wait until December," the United boss told a press conference on Friday.

Van Gaal let Radamel Falcao, Javier Hernandez and Robin van Persie go this summer.

The impact of those departures has been offset by the signing of Anthony Martial, who has scored four goals in four games since his £36million move from Monaco.

But given that the Frenchman is just 19 himself, Van Gaal is reluctant to allow Wilson to leave the club and he will therefore have to bide his time.

The United manager added: "I think he needs to play but Manchester United's interests are always higher than individual interests, so I have doubts to let him go. And maybe we have to wait until December that we know how it is with our club, (if) we are succeeding in the Champions League, the Capital One Cup, because maybe he shall receive minutes off me because I have to rotate.

"You have seen what I have done against Ipswich Town. It can be done also in the other matches, so I have talked with him and I think that we wait until December."
