John Terry to China: The 'tour' that suggests Chelsea captain could join Chinese Super League side

The Blues skipper has revealed he will be leaving Stamford Bridge at the end of the season

Following the shock announcement on Sunday that John Terry will be leaving Chelsea at the end of the season, speculation swiftly turned to where the former England captain will play next.

The one-club player has made clear he will not join any other club in England out of respect for Chelsea fans, meaning a move abroad beckons.

The MLS is arguably the most obvious and alluring option for English players, however there is a strong case to suggest Terry could look East rather than West for his next club.

China does not carry the same cache as America, yet Terry appears to be a fan of the country having embarked on a one-man tour of the most populous nation on earth last summer.

Before heading to Guangzhou, just north of Hong Kong, Terry uploaded an 'official tour logo' on Instagram that read: 'JT captain China tour 2015'.

During the tour Terry attended a charity dinner, took a training session with young players and answered questions from members of the Terry China Fan Club.

Were he to make the switch to the Chinese Super League, he would not be the first Chelsea legend to do so with Didier Drogba joining Shanghai Shenhua after departing Stamford Bridge.
