The biggest transfer story emerging from Anfield today - the Reds have made their sixth signing of the summer after agreeing a £25m fee with Newcastle to bring midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum to the club.

The Dutchman is expected to travel to the Merseyside today for a medical and is likely to fly out to USA to join up with the rest of the Liverpool squad for their pre-season fixtures once the deal has been completed.

Having looked like a dead deal, it seems Liverpool are back in talks to sign Anderson Talisca from Benfica, according to Record. The Portuguese outlet report that the Anfield club have restarted negotiations with the midfielder, despite concerns about the player’s work permit.

Joe Allen could be finally set to make his Anfield exit after Stoke City submitted a £13m bid for the Welsh midfielder. The 26-year-old has one year remaining on his contract and has been subject to wide interest from across the Premier League having enjoyed a very impressive Euro 2016 campaign with Wales.

It’s believed Allen wants his future resolved by the end of the summer and it’s now up to Liverpool whether or not to sell the player.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp is reportedly keen to hang onto the Welshman but the German has admitted that he simply cannot offer the promises of first-team football required to keep Allen at Anfield.

One of Liverpool’s summer targets looks to have finally closed the door on a potential transfer to Anfield. According to the Daily Mirror, Mario Gotze is expected to complete his move back to Borussia Dortmund from Bayern Munich later today.

After joining the Allianz Arena three years ago, Gotze has since struggled to make an impact at the German giants and had been linked with a move to Liverpool over the past summer. However, he now looks set to return to Dortmund.

Bayern chief executive Karl-Heinz Rummenigge told ZDF on Wednesday night: “I think everything could be solved tomorrow [Thursday].”

Carlo Ancelotti added that: “If Gotze leaves the club, then I wish him good luck for the new season. We have a fantastic squad. That’s it, I have nothing else to say.”
