Tottenham have made an offer for QPR striker Loic Remy, according to the Evening Standard .
Spurs want to make the Frenchman their first signing of the summer as they make moves to install Mauricio Pochettino as their new manager.
The north London club are ready to enter the transfer market to back their new manager, who could be unveiled this week, and have already made moves to bring Remy to White Hart Lane.
The 27-year-old spent last season on loan at Newcastle United where he scored 14 goals in 26 appearances.
Despite his parent club QPR securing promotion back to the Premier League through the Championship play-offs, their manager Harry Redknapp admitted he did not expect Remy to feature for Rangers again.
A clause in the former Marseille player's contract means a bid in the region of £8m would trigger talks. However, Tottenham will face competition from Arsenal and Liverpool who are both understood to be interested in signing Remy. That those two clubs can offer Champions League football may give them an advantage, particularly with Remy stating in the past his desire to play in Europe's elite competition.

Newcastle were also hoping to keep the forward but he appears to have ruled out a permanent switch to St James’ Park. He said: “The World Cup is a window. Newcastle want me but I don’t know if I’ll stay. It’s a pivotal moment.”
It has been reported in France that Remy is also hoping Chelsea, who are looking to strengthen their frontline, will make an offer.
