Robert Lewandowski is prepared to snub Manchester United in a bid to join Real Madrid after deciding that he wants to leave Bayern Munich, as revealed by the Independent.

At present, Real cannot register any new signings until 2017 after being sanctioned by Fifa over a breach of their transfer regulations regarding minors, although they have appealed the decision. But Lewandowski is determined to test himself in another country and, despite long-standing interest from United, is well aware of Real’s preference to take him to Spain.

United had agreed a deal in principle with Borussia Dortmund to sign Lewandowski back in 2012, but decided to pursue Robin van Persie instead, leaving the Poland international to join Bayern on a free transfer at the end of the 2013/14 season.

Meanwhile, Feyenoord’s 16-year-old talent Tahith Chong has spoken out to claim that he’s aware of United’s interest in him, but says he will not consider leaving the Dutch side at this time as he wants to focus on his development.

The 16-year-old talent has been linked with a move to both United and Chelsea, although the clubs has to wait until his 16th birthday before any approach could be made given Fifa’s international transfer regulations.

However, speaking to Dutch news outlet FR12, Chong ruled out any transfer this month and confirmed that it is his intention to sign a professional contract with Feyenoord in the coming weeks.

“Feyenoord is and remains my first choice and we are still negotiating,” Chong said. “It’s true that Manchester United are interested in me, but I want to just stay at Feyenoord.

“There is absolutely no question that I’m going out of the club. Feyenoord now has come up with a plan of how they see me in the coming years at the club. I am hopeful that it will be all right and that I’m going to sign a contract with Feyenoord.”

January Transfer window - completed deals

Louis van Gaal has rejected a loan approach from Premier League leaders Leicester for Andreas Pereira, despite the attacking midfielder’s desire to seek first-team football either at Old Trafford or elsewhere, according to the Daily Mail.

Pereira is in line to feature in Friday’s FA Cup fourth round clash with Derby, but the 20-year-old has made it clear that he wants more first-team opportunities in what has been a frustrating season for him personally as well as the club on a whole.
