Manchester United officials reportedly fear that Jose Mourinho could step down as the club’s manager at the end of the season.

According to the Daily Mail, there is increasing concern at Old Trafford with Mourinho’s behaviour and the lack of time he spends in Manchester.

Despite his appointment coming in the summer of 2016, Mourinho is yet to take up permanent residence in the north-west, preferring to commute from London and stay in a hotel.

The United manager’s current contract expires at the end of next season and he has been linked with a potential move to Ligue 1 super club Paris Saint Germain.

For now though, Mourinho, who recently claimed United must spend more to compete with league leaders Manchester City, is seeking to bring Tottenham Hotspur’s Danny Rose to Old Trafford.

According to The Sun, Mourinho is attempting to convince United’s hierarchy to part with £50m for the left-back, who publicly expressed his frustrations with Tottenham’s wage structure last summer.

Mourinho has long been an admirer of Rose and, as The Independent revealed last month, the 27-year-old is his preferred target at left-back.

Finally, The Telegraph claims that United are monitoring Lucas Moura's situation at Paris Saint-Germain.

After the summer of spending that brought Neymar and Kylian Mbappé to Paris, the Ligue 1 club are looking to bring their balance sheets in line with Uefa’s Financial Fair Play regulations this January.

Fringe players like Lucas, who interested Sir Alex Ferguson’s United in 2012, will be allowed to leave on a permanent basis this month for the right price.
