Manchester United want to sign Jadon Sancho in the next seven days so that he has time arrive in the UK and play against Crystal Palace in their opening Premier League game.

United are missing the first weekend of the season in order to recover from their exertions in last season’s Europa League. It means they have an extra week to get in Sancho before the season starts and according to Dagbladet, they are determined to bring him in.

It has been widely reported that personal terms are already agreed between United and the player’s agent, but it remains to be seen whether Dortmund will come down from their asking price of £120m.

Meanwhile, El Desmarque claims Zinedine Zidane is happy to sanction the sale of left-back Sergio Reguilon, who impressed on loan at Sevilla last season.

But Zidane has his reasons: United are unhappy with Real Madrid’s insistence on a buy-back clause, and Zidane believes if Real drop the clause, it will help him in his long-term ambition to sign Paul Pogba.

Pogba remains a United player and there is no suggestion he would depart this summer, or that United would want him to leave, but with Donny van de Beek now in the squad, United are in a better position should a good offer come in next year.

Fabrizio Romano reported a few weeks ago that Pogba would now be a Juventus player again had the pandemic not struck, torpedoing the Turin club’s financial plans.

Incoming United signing Charlie McNeill has agreed to re-sign with the club because he believes he can reach the first team quicker than had he stayed at City, according to Manchester Evening News.

McNeill, 17, cost City £12,000 when he joined from United six years ago, and he is said to ahem scored more than 600 goals at youth level.

He is returning to United’s academy for an initial fee of £750,000 that could rise to £1.35m after he turned down the offer of a new contract  at City in the summer. He joins the U19 squad.
