Manchester United transfer news: Paul Pogba's agent attacks media and says he 'doesn't give a damn about record fees'

Raiola claimed his experience of setting world transfer records in the past means he doesn't care what Pogba moves for as he closes in on a return to United

Mino Raiola has again spoken publicly to address reports surrounding the possible world record transfer to Manchester United for his client, Paul Pogba, as the transfer saga of the summer continues to drag on.

With Pogba on holiday, progress has ground to a halt as talks between United and Juventus continue. Raiola has already taken a proactive role in United’s summer transfer business this year, having structured the moves for Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Henrikh Mkhitaryan from Paris Saint-Germain and Borussia Dortmund respectively.

The outspoken football agent finally broke his silence on Thursday in denying any agreement between United, Juventus and Pogba himself after reports claimed that a five-year deal worth £220,000-a-week had been agreed for the France international to return to Old Trafford, four years after leaving on a free transfer.

Now, the football agent has spoken of his anger at seeing a report emerge in the Daily Mail that claimed he will pocket nearly £20m if Pogba moves to United for a nine-figure fee, and he said that he doesn’t care what the transfer fee is because he’s already got experience of breaking the world record before.

“I don’t give a damn about record transfer fees,” Raiola told Corriere dello Sport in Italy.

“The newspapers write that Pogba could set the record, but I’ve already set records with Ibrahimovic and [Pavel] Nedved.

“I want the best for my players, and therefore for Pogba too. I don’t answer to anyone, and I don’t speak about my business.

“Certain things I only discuss with my clients, and they know how things are.”

Raiola’s quotes come less than 24 hours after he took to his Twitter account in a rare excursion to social media to address the reports on Pogba’s future. Despite newspapers in both England France claiming that an agreement had been reached, Raiola wrote in just his 25th tweet since joining Twitter: “There is no deal done regarding Paul Pogba, lots of bla bla bla.”

Italian journalist Gianluca di Marzio added on Friday morning that Raiola had departed Italy soon after giving the quotes in order to travel to Miami, where he will link up with Pogba to discuss the latest developments over his future. Pogba, who has kept fans updated on his holiday in the United States with regular Instagram posts, is believed to favour a return to Old Trafford in order to link up with manager Jose Mourinho.
