Paul Pogba could snub Manchester United as Juventus attempt to hold onto their star midfielder with an improved contract deal, according to his agent.

Manchester United are reportedly poised to launch a formal bid for the 23-year-old now that Euro 2016 has passed but the Serie A club is fighting tooth-and-claw to keep Pogba at Turin.

According to the Daily Mail, Juventus have offered the Frenchman a new five-year contract worth £130,000-a-week which they hope can stave off United’s interest.

Mino Raiola, Pogba’s agent, has added to United concerns that the midfielder may be staying put.

“There is a lot of talk about Paul’s future, but maybe he will not leave Juventus,” Raiola told The Times.

“He is in no rush to leave, and Juventus do not want him to go. They want him to renew his contract.

“Paul is not desperate to move. We are very happy at Juventus and they are a club that want to keep their star players.”

However, Raiola did confirm that “several big clubs are in pursuit of his services”.

Manchester United have emerged as the favourites to secure the player’s signature. Reports suggest that Real Madrid, their main competitors, would be unwilling to match the £100m offer United are expected to make.

Despite Raiola’s remarks, manager Jose Mourinho will remain optimistic that he can pull of his fourth and final signing of the transfer window on account of the strong ties he's built with the agent over the summer so far.

The club have already purchased two of Raioloa’s players with Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Zlatan Ibrahimovic moving to Old Trafford in recent weeks.

Ivorian defender Eric Bailly marked Mourinho’s first signing of the summer and the United boss has outlined his desire to have all transfers completed before the season gets back underway on August 13.
