Man United finalise transfer for Czech starlet Radek Vitek from Sigma Olomouc

The 16-year-old will join the club in July as a scholar

Manchester United have finalised the signing of teenage goalkeeper Radek Vitek from Czech side Sigma Olomouc.

The 16-year-old will become a scholar with the Red Devils in July.

Standing at an imposing 6ft 5in, Vitek insists moving to United is a dream come true.

“It’s a surreal feeling, a move to Manchester United is the dream of a lot of guys who start playing football,” Vitel told Sigma Olomouc’s official website.

“I’m really looking forward to it. I admit I didn’t even believe it when I found out about the club’s interest, but now it’s definitely a reality.”

While Czech club’s sporting director, Ladislav Minar, declared his pride at United acquiring one of their players at such a young age.

 “I am happy to say that Sigma is capable of sending another of its players to a top European club,” Minar said.

“The departure of a player of such a low age is primarily a great prestige, which is a reward not only for the club, but also for the player himself for his hard work.

“Secondly, it is also a financial aspect. If Radek were to play for the Manchester team in the future or move to another club, the financial satisfaction would be of interest to Sigma.”

Vitek’s arrival sees United’s collection of young goalkeepers grow further beneath David De Gea, Sergio Romero and Sheffield United loanee Dean Henderson.

Kieran O’Hara, 23, is gaining experience on loan at Burton Albion, while Matej Kovar, 19, is highly thought of after joining from Czech side Slovacko in 2018.

While youngsters Nathan Bishop, Paul Woolston, Ondrej Mastny, Jacob Carney, Alex Fojticek, Dermot Mee and Johan Guadagno are also currently on United’s books.
