Manchester United transfer news: Romelu Lukaku set to join Inter Milan, Bruno Fernandes, Inaki Williams, Paul Pogba
Inter have been chasing Lukaku all summer as Antonio Conte’s top priority to spearhead his new-look front line
Romelu Lukaku is set to leave Manchester United on deadline day after the club accepted a bid from Inter Milan which could rise to £70m with add-ons.
Inter have been chasing Lukaku all summer as Antonio Conte’s top priority to spearhead his new-look front line, and had an initial bid rejected, but a new bid which consists of a £64.7m offer plus £5.3m in add-ons has been agreed.
Lukaku’s representatives have negotiated a contract worth £300,000 per week, according to the Guardian, for a player who will become Inter Milan’s record signing.
The sale represents a slight loss for United, having bought Lukaku two summers ago for £75m plus £15m in add-ons. He scored 27 goals in his opening campaign but only 15 last season as his form wavered.
United had been linked with a move for Atletico Bilbao’s Inaki Williams worth around £80m, but they are unlikely to buy a replacement for Lukaku on deadline day and will instead look to promote youngster Mason Greenwood, who starred last season in the Under-23s and has impressed during pre-season, while the club also retain hope of reviving the performances of Alexis Sanchez.

Lukaku’s close friend Paul Pogba has also been linked with a move away from Old Trafford but looks set to remain at the club. The midfielder had said that he wanted a new challenge but the big-money move to Real Madrid which was rumoured has not materialised.
