Former Arsenal striker Nicklas Bendtner could be the next big-name player to join the Chinese Super League, according to reports.

The Wolfsburg man, 28, was left out of the Champions league squad to face Gent on Wednesday night and has barely played this season, starting just four matches in the Bundesliga.

According to the Daily Mirror, Bendtner has been offered the chance to triple his £35,000-a-week wages to join an unnamed Chinese team.

​Bendtner has scored just nine goals and started only 11 matches in all competitions since joining Wolfsburg in at the start of last season.

If he joins China he will be the latest to leave Europe for the emerging powerhouse.

Obafemi Martins joined Shanghai Shenua on Thursday, joining the likes of Ezequiel Lavezzi, Jackson Martinez and Ramires as players, still in their primes, to chase money in the Far East.

The Chinese transfer window is open until the end of February.

Bendtner became a bit of cult hero at Arsenal after spending nine, largely unremarkable, years with the Gunners
