Manchester City are close to landing the £60m transfer of Paul Pogba from Juventus this summer, according to reports.

The Sun have reported this morning City are confident that they have beaten Spanish giants Barcelona and Real Madrid to the signing of the highly-rated French midfielder.

The reports continues by stating that City will pay Pogba £200,000 a week in wages.

The current British record signing is Angel Di Maria, who joined Manchester United from Real Madrid for £59.7m last summer.

Pogba left City's local rivals Manchester United in 2011, after coming through the youth ranks at the club, making only seven appearances in total. The 22-year-old has since become one of the best midfielders in the world playing for Juventus.

The transfer of Pogba could raise serious questions over the future of Yaya Toure at the Etihad Stadium. The unsettled City midfielder has been linked with a move to Inter Milan.
