Pedro to Manchester United: Sergio Busquets reveals team-mate has 'doubts' over Barcelona future as talk of a £22m move increases

Barcelona midfielder Sergio Busquets has revealed that his team-mate Pedro has "doubts" over his future at the club amid intense speculation of a move to the Premier League as Manchester United, Chelsea and Arsenal monitor his future.

United currently lead the way in the race to sign Pedro, and Barcelona manager Luis Enrique has already confirmed that he will not stand in the forward’s way if another club activates his £22m release clause and the player himself decides to move on.

After six years in the Barcelona first-team, Pedro is yet to tie down a regular starting spot, which is no surprise given the competition he faces in Lionel Messi, Neymar and Luis Suarez. However, Pedro remains highly rated in Spain and the Catalan side are determined not to see him leave, but Busquets admits that he can see why Pedro may decide to move on this summer.

"I have spoken with Pedro," Busquets told a press conference in San Francisco ahead of Barcelona’s friendly against United on Saturday.

"I think that as a team-mate and friend, I would like him to stay for a long time, but I understand that he has doubts.

"He wants to play but there is a lot of competition. In our team we have the best players and it's very difficult (to get into the team).

"I hope he stays but the decision is his."
